Prior to joining Browne Consulting, David worked as an Audit Senior Associate, where he specialized in serving a diverse clientele that included large private equity and fund-to-fund clients, as well as prominent players in the life science and higher education sectors. His professional journey has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of financial auditing, risk assessment, and compliance within these intricate industries. Through my tenure, he honed in on his skills in providing financial insights and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting for clients.
  • Q: What are you passionate about outside of work?
  • A: I enjoy gardening during my free time. Prior to college, I spent time planting flowers with my family every spring and summer to view seasonal blooms and liven up our surroundings. I took interest in taking care of potted plants gifted by family members and friends over multiple years, culminating in me growing fruits and vegetables during the pandemic shutdown. My approach is ever improving, and I aim to experiment with other types of plants in the future.
  • Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given OR have received?
  • A: “Focus on the process, not the result.” I refer to this advice whenever I am too focused on getting the right answer in my work. I am encouraged to take a step back and evaluate my approach, using peer feedback and best practices on how to work more efficiently. After completing the task, I can find value in the steps I took when troubleshooting and feeling confident in navigating new tasks in areas I have little experience but that I can learn from.
  • Q: Do you like to travel? What was your favorite trip? Or what is your favorite upcoming trip?
  • A: My favorite trip was when I travelled to Yellowstone. I appreciated its clear skies, quietness, and beautiful scenery and a different atmosphere to the hustle and bustle of the city. I visited the many geysers and hiking trails that the park offers while viewing the roaming bison on the plains. My fondest memory of the trip was seeing the clear night sky full of stars stretching for miles in every direction.

Mark Mele, CPA, MSA

Controller

Mark Mele brings over eight years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. Mark joined our team as a Controller, and now leads a team of one overseeing several newer clients who eagerly await their next significant R&D milestones. His areas of expertise are operational accounting, audit/tax preparation and support, accounting system implementation, management/investor financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts.

Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Mark worked at RSM in the Assurance practice serving clients in the renewable energy, manufacturing, and construction industries. After RSM, Mark worked at Cambridge Health Alliance as an Accounting Manager.

Q: What is your favorite quote or mantra, and why?

A: “Be a goldfish” – Ted Lasso

According to Ted Lasso, the happiest animal on Earth is a goldfish because it has a ten second memory. While one should learn from their mistakes, there is no need to dwell on them. Learn and move on.

Q: What are you passionate about outside of work?

A: I play in numerous recreational sports leagues.
